Biografia

Kaethe Shore ha iniziato lo studio della viola a dieci anni con Peggy Spencer e Ernestine Breismeister in Putney Vermont in una communità fortemente dedicata alla musica d’insieme e da camera. Durante il 1976 – 77 ha studiato a Boston suonando la viola nel Youth Symphonic Orchestra del New England Conservatory sotto la direzione di Benjamin Zander. Ha continuato i suoi studi con Raphael Bronstein e Ariana Bronne al Hartt College of Music in Connecticut U.S.A., e per quattro anni con Sally Peck alla North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem U.S.A. dove ha conseguito la Laurea in Viola nel 1982.

Partecipando ai corsi di musica cameristica e orchestrale del North Carolina School of the Arts, riservati agli allievi più meritevoli, ha eseguito concerti sinfonici e cameristici negli Stati Uniti, in Germania e in Italia, dove si è poi stabilita.

Negli Stati Uniti ha partecipato come violista al Festival di Musica Cameristica e Sinfonica di Salt Lake City, Utah e a due edizioni del Festival musicale Yellow Barn (musica da camera per archi) di Putney Vermont. Dal 2003 al 2007 ha insegnato musica da camera per archi al Camp Andantino di Brattleboro Vermont.

In Italia si è perfezionata con Dino Asciolla all’Accademia Musicale di Città di Castello ed è stata per otto anni violista dell’orchestra d’archi “Symphonia Perusina” con la quale ha suonato in numerosi concerti in Italia e all’estero.

Impegnata nella ricerca di metodologie efficaci per la formazione dei giovani strumentisti, ha seguito corsi per l’insegnamento degli strumenti ad arco tenuti da Sheila M. Nelson a Londra nel 1998, “Metodologia e pratica dell’Orff Schulwerk” con G. Piazza ad Assisi nel 2000 e Robert Culver String Teaching Seminar (ESTA) al Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana, Lugano nel 2003.

Si è sempre dedicata con passione all’insegnamento della viola e ha avuto il piacere d’insegnare al Conservatorio G. B. Pergolesi di Fermo dal 1989 al 2017. Per il conservatorio di Fermo ha coordinato Maratone di Musica da Camera per gli archi e ha realizzato numerosi progetti per l’Orchestra d’archi Junior.

Ha tenuto seminari per l’insegnamento degli archi con la metodologia di Paul Rolland e Sheila Nelson e una Masterclass di viola al Conservatorio F.A. Bonporti di Trento.

Particolarmente appassionata al repertorio cameristico, suona frequentemente in ensemble, fra gli altri con eccellenze quali Marco Rogliano, Christian Schmitt, Alessandra Gentile, Lucy Derosier, Massimo Mazzoni, Ferdinando Bastianini e il Trio Ars e Labor (Christa Butzberger pnf, Sara Gianfriddo vln e Héloïse Piolat vlc).

Da 1998 collabora con la Scuola di Musica del Trasimeno per i progetti dell’orchestra junior, musica d’insieme, stage di formazione orchestrale e campus musicali. Suona con L’Orchestra da Camera del Trasimeno.

Da Novembre 2017 insegna viola al Conservatorio Santa Cecilia di Roma.

Biography

Kaethe Shore began her studies as a violist at ten with Peggy Spencer and Ernestine Breismeister in the very music loving community of Putney Vermont U.S.A. During 1976 – 77 she began her serious study of music in Boston where she was first violist in the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Benjamin Zander. She continued her studies with Raphael Bronstein and Ariana Bronne at Hartt College of Music in Connecticut U.S.A. and with Sally Peck at the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston Salem U.S.A. where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music in 1982.

In the United States she participated as a violist in the Festival for Chamber and Symphonic Music in Salt Lake City, Utah and for two summers in the Yellow Barn Music Festival in Putney Vermont. In the summers from 2003 to 2007 she was chamber music teacher for Camp Andantino Workshops for amateurs in Brattleboro Vt.

Participating in the North Carolina School of the Arts International Music Program in the summers of 1980 and 1981, she played symphonic and chamber concerts in North Carolina, Germany and Italy where she has lived since 1982.

In Italy she studied with Dino Asciolla at the Accademia Musicale di Città di Castello. She was violist in the string orchestra “Symphonia Perusina” for eight years and performed with the orchestra throughout Italy and Europe.

Always dedicated to teaching, she has participated in numerous courses, among which, Stringwise Teaching Courses with S.M. Nelson, London 1998, Metodologia e Pratica dell’Orff Schulwerk course with Giovanni Piazza, Assisi 2000, and the Robert Culver String Teaching seminar organized by ESTA , Conservatorio Svizzero Italiano, Lugano 2003.

She was viola teacher at the Conservatorio G.B. Pergolesi di Fermo from 1989 to 2017 where she was also active throughout the years as coordinator of Sheila Nelson/Paul Rolland Workshops in string teaching, Chamber Music Marathons, the Conservatory Youth String Orchestra and many seminars and masterclasses.

With a great love for chamber music, she has played in many ensembles with excellent musicians such as Marco Rogliano, Alessandra Gentile, Christian Schmitt, Lucy Derosier, Massimo Mazzoni, Ferdinando Bastiani e il Trio Ars e Labor (Christa Butzberger pnf, Sara Gianfriddo vln and Héloïse  Piolat vlc).

Since 1996 she collaborates with the Scuola di Musica del Trasimeno music projects:

“Piccoli Archi”, Junior Orchestra, Summer Music Camp and Orchestral training workshops. She plays regularly in the Orchestra da Camera del Trasimeno.

Since November 2017 she teaches viola at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome.
